They Voted Against Extending Unemployment Benefits

Here’s a list of the Senators who voted against extending unemployment benefits. I provide it for my tweeps tweeting under the hashes #unemployment #Twittermarch and #11DaystoShametheSenate and others concerned about the unemployed so there is a convenient list of Senators who are willing to sell out the unemployed in the hopes of getting elected by extremists.

If you’re concerned about unemployment in Nevada, you should start following those hashes.

Everybody should start sending letters to these goofballs telling them to restore the benefits:

Click on a name to go to their contact page and tell them to vote for the unemployment extension. Notes from constituents are particularly powerful because that means you’re a voter, and Senators don’t generally like to piss off voters.

You might take a look at a number of these sites. You’ll discover they all start to look the same as they all parrot the talking points of the Republican party, which is quite prepared to sacrifice the unemployed for the sake of a some perverse strategy they’ve dreamed up that they think will help them win the upcoming elections. Of course, they pretend to be supporting a recondite and false economic worry about short-term deficits, although none was a deficit hawk while Bush was in office.

Gee, lookee! There’s Despicable John, right on top of the center column of the Nays!

If you’re unemployed and John Ensign took away your benefits, share your story over on Surviving the Recession.

Oh, yes, I did remove Harry Reid from the Nay list because he voted that way in order to make it possible to bring the legislation back for another vote.

  • Rory

Look. Reid voted “NO”. Just like Ensign. You can conjure up all the bullshit technical reasons you want, your man “Cleanface” Reid voted NO.

  • Ah, yes, a bullshit comment from somebody hiding behind the name “Rory.” Sorry, “Rory,” Reid’s reason for voting against was so that he could bring the bill back to the Senate–tomorrow most likely. Now, why would he do that if he was really against it?
